1. Purpose of the Summer League

The Bexley Tigers Summer League is designed to:

  • Provide competitive games during the off-season

  • Allow players to play with friends and form their own teams

  • Give players more game experience and development opportunities

  • Open participation to players from outside Bexley Tigers

  • Create a fun and structured basketball environment throughout the summer


2. League Format
Team Entry
  • Teams must consist of 5–10 players

  • Teams must compete within their September 2026 age group

  • Teams may be formed by:

    • Existing Bexley Tigers teammates

    • Friends forming their own teams

    • Mixed players from different clubs


3. Age Group Divisions

Players compete based on the school year they will enter in September 2026.

Suggested divisions:

  • U12 Division — Year 6 & 7

  • U14 Division — Year 8 & 9

  • U16 Division — Year 10 & 11

  • U18 Division — Year 12 & 13

Divisions may be adjusted depending on the number of teams registered.


4. Game Day Structure

Games will take place:

Location: Trinity School Sports Hall
Day: Saturday Afternoons

Typical schedule:

  • 12:00 – 1:30pm — U12 Games

  • 1:30 – 3:00pm — U14 Games

  • 3:00 – 4:30pm — U16 Games

  • 4:30 – 6:00pm — U18 Games

Each game day will include multiple fixtures per division depending on registrations.


5. Game Format
  • 4 x 8 minute quarters (running clock)

  • Last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter stop clock (if game is close)

  • Standard FIBA rules applied with modifications for time efficiency

Officials on each court:

  • 1–2 referees

  • Table officials

  • Live statistics operator


6. Player & Team Registration
Team Registration Fee

£120 per team (one-off)

This covers:

  • League administration

  • Scheduling

  • Equipment

  • Registration

Game Day Fee

£20 per player per game day

This covers:

  • Venue hire

  • Referees

  • Table officials

  • Live statistics

  • Game filming


7. Game Day Experience

Each game will include:

  • Game filming

  • Live scoring

  • Full player statistics

  • Player stat leaderboards

  • Online game results

Statistics tracked:

  • Points

  • Rebounds

  • Assists

  • Steals

  • Blocks

All stats will be uploaded to 360Player.


8. Competition Format

Depending on the number of teams:

Option A – Round Robin

  • Every team plays each other

  • Final standings determine champions

Option B – League + Playoffs

  • Regular season games

  • Top teams qualify for playoff finals

Final format will be confirmed once team registrations close.


9. Awards & Recognition

At the final game day we will host the Summer League Awards Ceremony.

Awards may include:

  • League Champions

  • MVP

  • Top Scorer

  • Best Defender

  • Most Improved Player

  • All-Summer League Team


10. Skills Clinics

On weeks when Summer League games are not scheduled, Bexley Tigers will host Skills Clinics focusing on individual player development.

Key development areas:

  • Shooting

  • Ball Handling

  • Footwork

  • Finishing

  • Decision Making

These clinics will complement both the Summer League games and the weekly training programme.

Official Rules & Regulations

1. Player Eligibility

  • Players must compete in the age group based on their school year in September 2026.

  • Players may only register for one team in their age division.

  • Players from outside Bexley Tigers are permitted to participate.

  • All players must be registered before participating in any game.


2. Team Composition

  • Each team must have 5–10 registered players.

  • A team must have at least 5 players present to start a game.

  • If a team has fewer than 5 players at game time, the game will be recorded as a forfeit.


3. Game Format

Games will follow a modified FIBA-style format.

  • 4 quarters

  • 8 minutes per quarter

  • Running clock throughout the game

  • Final 2 minutes of the 4th quarter may stop if the score difference is 10 points or less

Half-time break: 2 minutes


4. Overtime

If the game is tied:

  • 2-minute overtime period

  • Running clock

  • If still tied, sudden death (next basket wins)


5. Scoring System

League standings will be determined using the following points system:

  • Win: 3 points

  • Loss: 1 point

  • Forfeit: 0 points

Tie-breakers will be decided by:

  1. Head-to-head result

  2. Points difference

  3. Points scored


6. Substitutions

  • Substitutions may occur during any dead ball.

  • All players must check in with the table officials before entering the game.


7. Fouls

  • Players foul out after 5 personal fouls.

  • Team fouls reset each quarter.

  • Once a team reaches 5 fouls in a quarter, the opposing team receives two free throws for subsequent fouls.


8. Technical Fouls

Technical fouls may be issued for:

  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour

  • Disrespect towards referees or officials

  • Excessive complaining

Penalty:

  • 2 free throws and possession

Players receiving 2 technical fouls will be ejected from the game.


9. Game Officials

Each game will include:

  • 1–2 referees

  • Table officials

  • Statistics operator

Officials’ decisions are final.


10. Game Timing & Arrival

  • Teams must arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled game time.

  • Games will start on schedule to keep the league running efficiently.

If a team is more than 10 minutes late, the game may be recorded as a forfeit.


11. Statistics & Filming

All games will include:

  • Game filming

  • Live scoring

  • Full statistics tracking

Statistics recorded:

  • Points

  • Rebounds

  • Assists

  • Steals

  • Blocks

All stats will be uploaded to 360Player.


12. Player Conduct

All players are expected to:

  • Show respect to referees, coaches and opponents

  • Display good sportsmanship

  • Follow the instructions of league organisers

Serious misconduct may result in:

  • Suspension

  • Removal from the league


13. Awards

At the end of the Summer League season, awards will be presented for:

  • League Champions

  • Most Valuable Player (MVP)

  • Top Scorer

  • Best Defender

  • All-Summer League Team


14. League Administration

The Bexley Tigers Summer League organisers reserve the right to:

  • Adjust schedules if necessary

  • Resolve disputes

  • Modify rules if required for the smooth running of the competition

All decisions made by league organisers are final.
