Bexley Tigers Basketball Club is proud to be among the first 20 clubs in England to meet Basketball England’s Level 1 Club Standard, a milestone that reflects our commitment to strong governance, safeguarding, financial management, and long-term club development.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Board, who have played an instrumental role in shaping the structure and organisation of the club. Their leadership has ensured that Bexley Tigers operates at the highest level of professionalism, creating a safe, inclusive, and sustainable environment for players, coaches, and families.

What Does Level 1 Club Standard Mean?

Basketball England introduced the Club Standards framework to help clubs establish best practices, aligning with Sport England’s expectations and the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) framework.

By meeting the Level 1 Standard, Bexley Tigers has demonstrated:
✅ A clear club structure, including a club constitution.
✅ A club development plan outlining our long-term goals.
✅ A governing committee, including a Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer to oversee operations.
Strong safeguarding policies, with a designated Club Welfare Officer trained in Basketball England’s Safeguarding and Welfare requirements.
Proper financial management, operating through an independent club account.
✅ Adoption of Basketball England’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.

Why This Matters for Bexley Tigers and Our Community

As we continue to establish ourselves as a leading club in the London Borough of Bexley, achieving this accreditation further strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality basketball experiences for players of all levels, from grassroots to elite pathways.

The benefits of achieving Level 1 status include:
🏀 Eligibility to enter the Basketball England Junior National League (Jnr. NBL) from the 2025/26 season, giving our young players the opportunity to compete at the highest level nationally.
🏀 Access to internal and external funding grants, helping us invest further in facilities, equipment, and player development.
🏀 Opportunities to participate in Basketball England’s national programmes, creating more pathways for young players.
🏀 Marketing support and club development resources, strengthening our ability to reach and engage more young athletes in Bexley.
🏀 Direct access to Basketball England’s expertise and development support, ensuring we continue to operate at the highest level.

A Testament to Our Growth and Commitment

Since our relaunch and rebranding as Bexley Tigers in 2024, our club has made significant strides in creating a structured, sustainable, and community-driven basketball programme. Achieving Level 1 accreditation is another step forward in our mission to establish a dedicated basketball hub in Bexley and ultimately bring professional basketball to the borough.
