Tigers CBL: A League for Our Community Players
The Tigers CBL (Community Basketball League) is the flagship initiative of Bexley Tigers Basketball Club. It offers an exciting platform where players in our community programme compete and grow. This internal league gives participants a real taste of competitive basketball in a friendly, inclusive setting. Based in the London Borough of Bexley, the Tigers CBL brings players from various sites together to face off in a structured, league-style format.
A League for Growth and Development
The Tigers CBL helps community players sharpen their skills through real-game experiences. Trained officials oversee every match, creating a safe space where players can focus on improving their game. By encouraging teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, the league plays a key role in player development. At every step, participants grow in confidence while enjoying the thrill of competition.
Building a Local Basketball Community
The league connects players from different sites across Bexley, creating opportunities for camaraderie and friendly rivalry. This setup not only builds basketball skills but also strengthens the sense of community among participants. Through shared experiences, players foster pride and unity within the local basketball scene.
Exclusive to Bexley Tigers Players
The Tigers CBL is an internal league exclusively for registered Bexley Tigers players. This focused approach ensures participants receive dedicated attention to enhance their growth. By welcoming players of all skill levels, the league remains inclusive and encourages everyone to take part in competitive basketball.
A Safe and Supportive Environment
The Tigers CBL prioritises safety and enjoyment, ensuring players thrive in a positive atmosphere. With organised structures and experienced officiating, families can trust the league to deliver a secure and enriching experience.

2023 MBA Division 1 Championship
Basketball has a very long history in England, being introduced there by YMCA almost immediately after it was invented (having been created by the Canadian Dr. James Naismith in 1891 in Massachusetts). World Wars I and II further spurred its popularity.
The elite league is the fully professional British Basketball League, featuring teams from England and Scotland, while the semi-professional National Basketball League effectively forms the second-tier. There is no promotion and relegation between the two leagues because the BBL operates a franchise system whereby teams have to “buy into” the league.
